On October 26th, I attended the annual luncheon of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County. The theme of the luncheon and their programs is “Girls Change the World.” JWFNY gave the Girl Scouts a two-year grant for an anti-bullying program for teen girls. This is a very important program for Girls Scouts and our JWFNY grant brings their very exciting program to Day Schools and Jewish Centers on Long Island. They have many resources and programs that deal with bullying and harassment and we are proud partners with them on this cutting edge and innovative program for Jewish girls.
The Girl Scouts of Nassau County listed JWFNY as one of the largest donors to their programs. I was seated with professionals from the Girl Scouts as well as other organizations that are also donors. Many of the speakers talked about their bullying programs and how they are making a difference in enhancing leadership and self-esteem in girls. Most of the professionals, as well as the speakers, were well aware of the JWFNY’s grant and introduced themselves to me.
It was a most enjoyable luncheon and I left with a wonderful feeling that we chose a cutting edge program to fund. For more information, visit the Girl Scouts of Nassau County website at http://www.gsnc.org/news/june_7_2010.asp.
